San Diego celebrated Tony Gwynn's entry into the Hall of Fame by having their best offensive game of the season... 19 hits and 18 runs against Houston's struggling pitching staff. After plating 11 in the top of the first, the Padres never looked back, though the Astros pounded out 14 hits and 11 runs of their own. Mike Cameron, Adrian Gonzalez and Milton Bradley led the charge with three hits apiece. This week in baseball, Barry Bonds is within a few home runs of tying Hank Aaron's record.  It appears that he may soon tie and eventually pass Aaron's long standing achievement.  But, Bonds will never receive the respect and admiration for hitting 755 due to his involvement with prohibited enhancement drugs.

Given that, wouldn't it be a great gesture of MLB camaraderie to walk Bonds for the rest of the season; simply to protect the Aaron legacy.  If I really thought it likely, I would watch every Bonds appearance.  However, I will not be watching any Giants games for the rest of the season.  Out of sight, out of mind.

God bless Hank Aaron who took the record and held it on his own and will always be the home run king in my baseball book.
